My name is Lauren, and I’m a storyteller.
I’ve worked in Communications for over 15 years, with experience covering many sectors, including but not limited to the scientific research industry, health and fitness, academia, not-for-profit and the public sector.
I excel at content creation with a strong focus on storytelling, and particularly enjoy speaking to people about their specific area of expertise or their current research project, which I can turn into an article that makes their work accessible and engaging for a wider audience. I did this for many academics at University of Cambridge when I was Head of Communications at both St Catharine’s and Churchill College. You can see examples of this work here.
For many years I have also written in the health and fitness industry, both through my own blog and by partnering with others such as OxGadgets and influencer Zanna Van Dijk.
If there is a story to be told, I want to be the one helping you to tell it.
I’ve worked for the following organisations:

Why do you write?
I’ve written since I was a small child. My first book was when I was 6 or 7 and was about a ghost dog called Henry. My imagination was possibly a little limited back then, since I did actually have a Yorkshire Terrier called Henry, but he wasn’t a ghost. At least I don’t think he was…
Writing makes me happier than anything else. Whether it’s fiction, a press release, an article, web content or a blog post, it brings me great joy.
What would your ideal day look like?
I love variety in my writing, and I love getting to know people and understanding what makes them tick. So an ideal day would involve writing about someone else and what they do (either as an interview piece or to break down their work), writing a piece in the health and fitness space, and then also working on my own creative fiction. And if I had time to squeeze in a run too, that would make the day pretty perfect.
What is the favourite piece of fiction you’ve written?
This is a hard question for me. I’ve entered a number of competitions and have had some success at a local level. Two of my favourites that I came third and first with in the Ely Writer’s Day competition in 2016 and 2018 respectively are “You Used to Write me Love Letters” and “Autumn Leaves“. I also had a short story published in the Churchill College Review in 2021. Whilst it might not be the favourite example of my writing, “Feathered Dreams” means a lot to me as it was written about my beloved cat who I lost during lockdown in April 2020.
Can I work with you?
I would love that! If you have a project you’d like to work with me on, just get in touch.
