Microfiction Day 71 – “The Big Freeze”

People had stopped moving.

At first she thought it was some strange street art and rolled her eyes as she waked past them on her way home. But the next morning they were still there, their eyes dry and dull.

As the days passed more people joined them, frozen in time. Some of them had dogs who were unaffected by whatever it was that was happening. She unclipped them from their leads and watched them run.

She lasted until the tenth week of the freeze. Her time stopped on the riverside where the last thing she saw was the ducklings.
