Microfiction Day 24 – “Relaxation”

“What are you doing?”

A sigh. One eye lazily opens.

“Having a bath.”

The eye closes.

“Why?”

Another sigh. Both eyes open.

“To relax.” Emphasis on the second word. Both eyes close.

“Not to get clean?”

She sits up and looks into the small face.

“Well, yes it does that too.”

“Can I get in?”

“You won’t like it. Go away.” She lies back down. Closes both eyes.

She hears the moment the decision is made, and she feels the moment the decision is regretted. She watches as her cat sprints from the room, wet paw prints on the floor.
