Microfiction Day 240 – ‘The Capture’

“What are you up to out here?”

She had listened to her daughter tinkering in the garden for almost an hour. Sometimes she chattered with the birds, bidding them good morning or trying to speak to them through chirps. At other moments she hummed to herself as she made daisy chains, their already wilting forms dotted around her feet.

“I’m catching rainbows!”

She held up a glass of water and grinned. Tilted it just so and giggled as the sunlight spilled rainbows onto the patio.

She put her hand palm up into the colourful path.

“Now you’ve caught some too!”
