Microfiction Day 288 – ‘An Unlucky Gamble’

She was so excited by the delivery, practically grabbing it from the startled postman’s hands.

A box full of undelivered mail. An adult’s pass the parcel.

She imagined a brand new tablet. Maybe some jewellery. Perhaps a family heirloom or future antique. The possibilities felt endless.

Instead she got a box full of the mundanity of human existence. Incontinence underwear. Hearing aids. Pill boxes. A shattered make-up palette. A Christmas jumper with photos of a stranger’s cats on it.

She sighed as she opened up the reselling app. If luck is on her side she might make her money back.
