Microfiction Day 199 – ‘The Power of Persuasion’

“I saw a dodo today.”

“No you didn’t.”

“I did actually.”

“You can’t have done.”

“Why not?”

“Cos they’re extinct, dummy.”

“Says who?”

“Says science.”

“What if dodos are just really good at hide and seek?”

“Why would they be good at hide and seek?”

“Wouldn’t you be if people kept eating you?”

“Well, yes. Probably.”

“Well then.”

“Wouldn’t someone have found one by now?”

“The world is pretty big, right?”

“Yup. It’s huge.”

“And if you were hiding from someone, wouldn’t you choose somewhere they wouldn’t look?”

“Definitely.”

“There you go. I saw a dodo today.”

“I believe you.”
