Microfiction Day 187 – ‘The Importance of Pink’

“What’s your favourite colour?”

“Pink!”

“Urgh, you’re such a boring GIRL.”

“What’s your favourite colour?”

“Pink.”

“Really? Why?”

“Have you ever considered a world devoid of pink? No flushing of skin when someone is embarrassed or in love. No cherry blossoms filling the skies and attracting insects with their blooms. No rich sunsets formed by the scattering of light. No katydids, flamingos, axolotls, even pigs! Our world is the richer for it.”

She smiled at the artist. “Wow. I never looked at that way.”

He smiled back. “I dismissed it when I was younger. I now know I was wrong.”
