Microfiction Day 161 – ‘Smug’

The sea was as grey as the sky.

The sky was as grey as the sea.

It was almost impossible to tell where one ended and the other began.

Almost, but not quite.

A flash of white bobbed in the waves.

The seagull looked out at the people looking at him. He felt smug being the sole focus of their gaze.

Not that he understood the concept of smugness.

They lifted their phones, each feeling smug about the fantastic photo they were taking despite them being identical.

They would each use the same hashtag when they shared it.

#SmugSeagull.

I love this. The idea is so clever – a smug seagull 👏
